Ghanaian teenager Clifford Nana joins Real Madrid after Barcelona academy spell
Real Madrid have completed the signing of 16-year-old Ghanaian winger Clifford Nana, with the youngster joining the Spanish club after previously developing at Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy.
The teenage forward has been identified as one of the promising young talents in Spanish youth football and will continue his development within Real Madrid’s La Fábrica academy system.
Clifford Nana Boadi Kusi-Gyamfuaa, known as Clifford Nana, was born in Ghana and attracted attention from European scouts at a young age because of his attacking ability and potential.
The winger spent part of his development at Barcelona’s youth academy before leaving the club in 2023. Following his departure from La Masia, Nana continued his progress with Catalan youth side CF Damm, where his performances helped increase interest from several clubs.
His displays at youth level, particularly his direct style and attacking impact, convinced Real Madrid to make a move for the Ghanaian youngster as part of their long-term plans.
Nana primarily operates as a right winger and has been praised for his pace, confidence in one-on-one situations and ability to create attacking opportunities.
Scouts have highlighted his explosive dribbling ability, with the teenager known for taking on defenders and using his speed to make dangerous runs in the final third.
His physical strength has also been considered one of his qualities, allowing him to compete effectively against defenders despite his young age.
The Ghanaian forward has also impressed with his finishing ability, producing strong goal-scoring numbers during limited appearances in youth competitions.
His move to Real Madrid represents another important step in his development as he joins one of the most recognised youth systems in world football.
The Spanish giants have a long history of developing young players through their academy, and Nana will now look to continue his progression while adapting to the demands of a new environment.
The transfer also marks a notable chapter in the young winger’s journey, having moved from Ghana to Spain before progressing through two of the country’s respected football development pathways.
After starting at Barcelona’s academy and later impressing at CF Damm, Clifford Nana now begins a new challenge with Real Madrid as he aims to establish himself as one of the next emerging talents from Ghana.
