Mourinho considers Brahim Diaz sale to fund defensive targets
Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has placed Brahim Diaz on his potential sales list, according to Latigo Serrano.
The new coach actively aims to restore the club’s greatness after several inconsistent seasons and is already executing his own vision for the squad.
Although the club leadership values the Moroccan international’s impressive versatility, Mourinho appears willing to sacrifice him to finance priority defensive signings like Josko Gvardiol. The Spanish giant could demand an enormous transfer fee, ranging from 60 to 80 million euros, to let the player leave.
Brahim Diaz’s journey at Real Madrid began on January 7, 2019, when he joined from Manchester City. Under Zinedine Zidane, he struggled for regular first-team minutes, serving primarily as a squad player. During the second half of the 2018-19 season, he made just 11 appearances across all competitions.
On September 4, 2020, Diaz was loaned to AC Milan for the 2020-21 season. The loan was extended for two additional seasons on July 19, 2021. He became a regular starter at AC Milan, and the loan stints were highly successful, showcasing his true potential.
Diaz returned to Real Madrid in June 2023. With Arda Guler and Franco Mastantuono already providing sufficient depth to the squad, the midfielder’s situation could change rapidly during this summer’s transfer market.
