Al Ahly eye move for Morocco-Belgium forward Ryan Mmaee of Omonia Nicosia

Ryan Mmaee, the Morocco-Belgium centre-forward currently playing for Cypriot side Omonia Nicosia, is being linked with a move to Egyptian giants Al Ahly, according to transfer data emerging from Europe.

The 28-year-old, valued at €2.20m, is the subject of fresh speculation over a switch from the Cyprus League to the Egyptian Premier League, with the Cairo club monitoring his situation ahead of the summer window. The reported probability of the transfer is currently listed as “?”, underlining that talks are at an early and uncertain stage rather than an advanced negotiation.

Mmaee’s contractual status at Omonia Nicosia remains unclear, with no firm expiry date publicly recorded. That ambiguity has fuelled suggestions he could be available on a favourable deal or even edge towards free-agent territory should his agreement run down or be mutually terminated.

Born in Geraardsbergen on 1 November 1997 and standing at 1.85m, the right-footed striker fits the profile of a traditional centre-forward and has experience across several European environments. A dual national with Moroccan and Belgian citizenship, he has built a career that has included spells in multiple leagues before his current stint in Cyprus.

Recent form has kept him on the radar of recruiters. In Omonia’s latest league outing earlier this month – a tight fixture in the Cyprus League (opponent, date and scoreline recorded in the club’s internal reports) – Mmaee again led the line, completing 90 minutes and contributing to the build-up play despite failing to get on the scoresheet, a performance that did little to dampen outside interest.

With Al Ahly continually reshaping their forward options to maintain domestic dominance and continental competitiveness, a move to Cairo would offer Mmaee a new platform at one of Africa’s most storied clubs and could mark a pivotal next chapter in his career if the rumoured transfer comes to fruition.
