Andre Onana to stay at Trabzonspor

Trabzonspor president Ertuğrul Doğan remains optimistic that Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana will continue his spell with the Turkish club, despite the player having returned to Manchester United after the end of his loan.

Onana spent the season on loan at Trabzonspor, where he quickly became an important figure between the posts and earned strong support from fans. Although his temporary deal has now expired, Doğan believes the club’s efforts to secure him permanently could still pay off.

Speaking to Ajansspor, the Trabzonspor president insisted that financial terms offered to Onana were competitive and aligned with the goalkeeper’s expectations. He also stressed the emotional connection built between the player and the club during his time in the city.

“I think Andre Onana will stay. Financially, we offered him the amount he wanted. The fans appreciate him too; he’s a man of quality. I don’t believe he can find the same level of support elsewhere as he receives here in the city. Consequently, I think he will stay with the team,” Doğan said.

Onana is currently under contract with Manchester United until 2028, meaning any permanent move would require negotiations between the clubs. While Trabzonspor remain hopeful, the final decision is expected to depend on the goalkeeper’s long-term plans and United’s stance on his future.
