Adama Traore departs West Ham as free agent
Adama Traore will become a free agent this summer after West Ham confirmed he will depart the club at the end of his contract.
He is set to leave on June 30, bringing his spell with the Hammers to an end and allowing him to explore new opportunities as a free agent.
The 30-year-old arrived in January 2026 from Fulham, but his West Ham adventure ends quickly. He made just 12 appearances, accumulating only 363 minutes for 2 assists. A mediocre performance that failed to convince London club officials to extend the collaboration with the player.
West Ham confirmed the departure officially: “West Ham confirms that Adama Traore will leave the club as a free agent when his contract expires on 30 June”.
The contract’s end opens doors for foreign interest. Trained at FC Barcelona where he failed to establish himself, Traore rebuilt his reputation during a 2022 loan at the Catalans under Xavi.
Despite a less brilliant finish, he impressed Liga clubs including Elche. The Franjiverdes are interested in signing the player and would have begun procedures to sign him and relaunch his career.
Elche’s interest represents a potential return to Spain for Traore, who could find renewed opportunities in LaLiga after his short Premier League stint with West Ham following his Fulham departure earlier this year.
