The venue for the play-off match between Senegal and Ivory Coast for the Brazil 2014 World Cup has been decided. The Senegalese Football Federation has chosen Casablanca, Morocco, as the host city for the match against the Ivory Coast Elephants. This decision comes after discussions with players, the coach, and the Minister of Sports. The president of the Senegalese Football Federation, Augustin Senghor, mentioned that playing on familiar ground was a collective decision.
The original choice of coach Alain Giresse was Mali for the match against Sabri Lamouchi’s team. However, with the Stade Léopold Sedar Senghor suspended since November 27, 2012, following violence in a previous match against Ivory Coast, Senegal has been unable to play home matches.
