South Africa’s national football team, Bafana Bafana, will play a friendly match against Morocco on October 11. The match is scheduled as part of the inauguration of the new Agadir stadium in Morocco. Gordon Igesund, the coach of Bafana Bafana, sees the match as an opportunity to assess the conditions in Morocco, the host of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (CAN), and to begin preparations for the CAN 2015 qualifiers. With only two FIFA dates available between the 2014 African Nations Championship (CHAN) and the start of the CAN qualifiers in September 2014, Igesund emphasizes the importance of making the most of this invitation. The friendly will also allow some players from South Africa’s local national team to gain rhythm ahead of CHAN 2014.
