Mesut Özil’s father, Mustafa Özil, has expressed his intention to take legal action for identity theft. It has been reported that during the summer transfer window, individuals posing as agents attempted to contact Manchester United on behalf of Mustafa Özil and even tried to negotiate a deal for Mesut Özil with the club.
Mustafa Özil stated, “Someone wanted to contact Manchester on my behalf and even sign on my behalf. This is no small matter. We will get to the end of things.” The impostors allegedly pretended to have the agreement of both Mustafa Özil and Mesut Özil while offering the German player to Manchester United. Mesut Özil ultimately signed with Arsenal for a transfer fee of 50 million euros.
