The double confrontation between Senegal and Ivory Coast in the last round of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers has taken on significant importance. In Senegal, sports authorities are assuring that they will spare no effort to prepare the Lions well for the crucial matches. Souleymane Boune Daouda Diop, a representative from Senegal’s sports ministry, emphasized the importance of qualifying for a World Cup and stated that the state is ready to make all sacrifices to ensure the Lions are well-prepared for the matches against Ivory Coast. The Senegalese football federation has chosen Casablanca for the first leg, citing better expected public response compared to Marrakech, where the stadium was deserted in a previous match against Uganda. The State of Senegal has allocated an additional 2 billion FCFA for sports, including almost 500 million FCFA for football and the national team, the Lions.
