The English club Fulham is set to remove the statue of Michael Jackson that has stood in front of its stadium since 2011. This decision comes from the club’s new owner, Pakistani Shahid Khan, who apparently does not share the same admiration for the King of Pop.
The statue was originally installed by the former club owner, Egyptian Mohamed Al Fayed (pictured on the left), as a tribute to the American singer. Al Fayed, a devoted fan of Michael Jackson, had extended multiple invitations to the pop icon to attend matches at Craven Cottage, home to Fulham.
With the change in ownership, the club has decided to part ways with the statue, reflecting the personal preferences of the new owner. The removal marks the end of an era and the association between Fulham and the Michael Jackson statue, which had become a distinctive feature in front of the stadium.
