Cape Verde to camp in Portugal for 2026 World Cup

Cape Verde are stepping up preparations for their historic first-ever FIFA World Cup appearance following the official announcement of the squad that will represent the Blue Sharks at the global tournament.

The Island nation is preparing for one of the biggest moments in the country’s football history as excitement continues to build ahead of the World Cup, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

As part of their final build-up to the tournament, the Blue Sharks will hold a training camp from 20 to 24 May as the coaching staff looks to fine-tune the squad before the start of the competition.

The camp is expected to focus on tactical preparation, physical conditioning, and team cohesion as Cape Verde aim to arrive at the World Cup in the best possible shape.

After the initial phase of preparations, the Cape Verde delegation will travel to Portugal, where the team is scheduled to play an international friendly match against Serbia on May 31 at the Estádio do Restelo.

The encounter is expected to provide a major test for the Blue Sharks against experienced European opposition ahead of the tournament. Serbia’s physical style and tactical discipline could offer Cape Verde valuable preparation for the challenges awaiting them at the World Cup.
