Libya has appointed Javier Clemente as its new coach. The Spanish manager, who has been without a contract since leaving Sporting Gijon in La Liga at the end of the 2011-2012 season, is set to begin his duties from October 1.
Javier Clemente has coaching experience in Africa, having previously coached the Cameroon national team from 2010 to 2011, although the experience with the Indomitable Lions was considered unsuccessful.
Libya recently participated in the 2014 World Cup play-offs but was eliminated in August after a competitive group stage, which included teams like Togo and DR Congo. The Knights of the Mediterranean finished behind Cameroon, leading to their elimination from World Cup qualification.
