DR Congo suffer injury concern over Rocky Bushiri ahead of World Cup qualifiers
Rocky Bushiri has emerged as a major injury concern for the Democratic Republic of Congo after being forced off early during Hibernian FC’s league match against Motherwell.
The central defender, who started the fixture for the Scottish club, was withdrawn in the 16th minute after sustaining a leg injury, with medical staff stretching him off the pitch following the incident.
The setback is a significant blow for the player, who had been hoping to complete his domestic season strongly before turning his attention to international duties.
The timing of the injury is particularly concerning for DR Congo, with national team preparations for the upcoming international break already underway and squad selection imminent.
Head coach Sébastien Desabre now faces uncertainty over one of his defensive options, with Bushiri considered an important part of the national team setup due to his physical presence and experience.
Any extended absence would represent a notable loss for the Leopards, who rely on defensive stability as they prepare for upcoming fixtures.
At present, Hibernian have not issued a detailed medical update regarding the severity of the injury, leaving both club and country awaiting further clarity.
The defender is expected to undergo a series of medical assessments in the coming hours to determine the extent of the problem and establish a possible timeline for recovery.
Those examinations will be crucial in deciding whether Bushiri can feature in DR Congo’s upcoming international commitments or whether he will be ruled out.
For now, concern remains high among supporters and within the national team camp, with hopes that the injury will not be as serious as initially feared.
Bushiri’s condition will continue to be monitored closely by both Hibernian and DR Congo medical teams as further updates are expected once scan results are confirmed.
