Legendary South African coach Pitso Mosimane has showered praises on midfielder Teboho Mokoena following his outstanding performance against Morocco.
South Africa stunned the World Cup semi-finalists at the Stade Laurent Pokou in San Pedro in the Round of 16 of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Mokoena capped off his man of the match performance by scoring a devastating free-kick to seal the victory for South Africa.
Orlando Pirates forward Evidence Makgopa scored the opening goal of the game after 57 minutes after connecting a pass from Themba Zwane.
The Mamelodi Sundowns star rounded off the massive win for Hugo Broos’ side when he scored a sublime free-kick in stoppage-time.
Taking to his X handle, Mosimane wrote;
“Teboho Mokoena! What a player!. The free kick he scored was just icing on the cake! He stepped on every grass leaf on the pitch. Bossing the midfield.
“No arguments, SA is one of the most tactically disciplined teams in the tournament. No frills, just grinding.”
Bafana Bafana sets a clash with Cape Verde in the quarter-finals on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at the Stade Charles Konan Banny in Yamoussoukro.
