Raja Casablanca close in on Jordanian defender Mohannad Abu Taha
Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca are reportedly making significant progress in negotiations to sign Jordanian full-back Mohannad Abu Taha from Iraqi club Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Green Eagles are actively searching for players capable of strengthening the squad as preparations continue for next season, with the club aiming to return strongly on both the domestic and continental fronts.
Jamal Sellami’s Influence on the Deal
Reports indicate that the move comes following strong recommendations from Jordan national team coach Jamal Sellami, who is believed to be a big admirer of Abu Taha’s qualities.
Sellami reportedly views the player as an ideal fit for Raja’s possession-based style of football due to his tactical discipline and ability to contribute in multiple phases of play.
The former Raja player and coach has previously played a role in strengthening the connection between the Casablanca-based side and Jordanian football. He was influential in the arrival of Jordanian winger Mohammad Abu Zrayq, popularly known as “Sharara,” at the club.
Negotiations Progressing Positively
According to several reports from Jordan, discussions between all parties are moving in a positive direction, with both Raja and the player eager to complete the transfer during the summer mercato.
Abu Taha’s current spell with Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya is reportedly approaching its conclusion, opening the door for a new challenge in Moroccan football.
A Modern Full-Back Profile
The Jordanian defender is widely regarded as a modern left-back capable of contributing effectively at both ends of the pitch.
Many Moroccan supporters became familiar with his qualities during Jordan’s clash against Morocco in the Arab Cup final, where he produced an impressive display. Abu Taha managed to limit Morocco’s attacking threat in dangerous areas while also supporting Jordan’s offensive play with confidence and energy.
Raja Eye Strong Comeback Next Season
Raja Casablanca continue to reshape their squad as the club looks to recover from a difficult campaign and re-establish itself among the strongest sides in African football.
The expected arrival of Mohannad Abu Taha could represent another important step in Raja’s rebuilding project as they target success in both the Botola Pro and continental competitions next season.
