Morocco releases travel guidelines for fans ahead of 2026 FIFA World Cup
Morocco has intensified preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup by releasing important travel guidelines for supporters planning to follow the Atlas Lions in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The Moroccan Embassy in Washington published an explanatory video aimed at helping fans understand the administrative and logistical procedures required before travelling to the tournament. The guide focuses on visa applications, accommodation, transportation, and general travel arrangements for supporters expected to attend the competition.
Morocco’s Group Stage Fixtures Confirmed
Morocco has been drawn in Group C alongside Brazil, Scotland, and Haiti. According to the embassy, New Jersey will serve as a major hub for Moroccan supporters during the opening phase of the tournament.
The Atlas Lions will open their World Cup campaign against Brazil on June 13 at MetLife Stadium. They will then face Scotland on June 19 at Gillette Stadium before concluding the group stage against Haiti on June 24 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
FIFA Visa Process Explained
The embassy highlighted the introduction of a special “FIFA Visa” process by American authorities to speed up interview appointments connected to the World Cup.
Supporters must first obtain match tickets through FIFA’s official platform before beginning the visa application through the US consulate website.
The embassy outlined six important steps for supporters, including selecting the visa category, carefully completing the DS-160 form, paying visa fees, booking interview appointments, presenting the required documents, and tracking passport delivery after approval.
Fans Advised to Book Early
Supporters have also been encouraged to secure accommodation as early as possible due to the expected high demand during the tournament.
Authorities stressed the importance of obtaining health and travel insurance, particularly because of the high cost of healthcare services in the United States.
Direct flights from Casablanca to major American cities such as Washington, New York, and Miami are expected to ease travel arrangements for supporters. A new direct route to Los Angeles is also scheduled to begin on June 7.
Consulates to Provide Assistance During Tournament
The embassy further advised fans to activate international banking services, roaming packages, or eSIM options before travelling while also complying with US customs regulations regarding prohibited items.
To support Moroccan fans during the tournament, Moroccan consulates across the United States will establish support centres and emergency assistance services throughout the competition.
“As the opening of the 2026 World Cup approaches in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, we once again remind supporters of the Moroccan national team to follow this explanatory video released by the Moroccan Embassy,” the statement said.
