Mamadou Sakho has made the decision to leave Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and join Liverpool just one year before the World Cup. The French international expressed his satisfaction with his achievements at PSG and left the club on good terms, emphasizing that his departure was his own choice.
In an interview with L’Equipe, Sakho stated, “I have accomplished a lot of things with Paris of which I am very proud, and I leave with my head held high. I now hope that the next generation will be operational to follow the path that the players trained at the club have traced.” He clarified that leaving PSG was his decision and that he was not forced out.
Sakho’s aim is to secure a starting position in order to represent France in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Before departing, he received a video tribute at the Parc des Princes, PSG’s home stadium, and was warmly applauded by the supporters.
