Al Ahly eye Moroccan goal machine Soufiane Benjedida ahead of summer window
Egyptian giants Al Ahly SC have set their sights on Moroccan striker Soufiane Benjedida as they look to reinforce their attacking options ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
Reports from Egyptian media indicate that Al Ahly have already initiated formal inquiries into the player’s contractual situation with Maghreb Fez. The move forms part of a broader plan to strengthen a squad that already features Moroccan talents Youssef Belamri and Achraf Bencharki.
According to the programme “Al-Kora Ma’a Fayeq” on MBC Egypt, the 27-year-old striker is currently leading a shortlist of three potential targets being closely evaluated by the club. Among the alternatives under consideration is fellow Moroccan forward Ryan Mmaee, who is plying his trade in the Cypriot league.
Maghreb Fez Strengthen Their Position
Meanwhile, Maghreb Fez appear determined to maintain control over their prized asset. The club has already moved to extend Benjedida’s contract until 2030, a decision widely viewed as a strategic effort to boost his market value and gain leverage in any future negotiations.
The Moroccan side are reportedly unwilling to let their top scorer leave without a substantial offer, especially given the increasing attention surrounding his performances. While his current market value is estimated at around €1.3 million, sources suggest that Al Ahly could table an offer in the region of $2 million should they decide to proceed with the deal.
Impressive Form Drives Interest
Al Ahly’s pursuit of Benjedida is largely driven by his outstanding form this season. The striker has been one of the standout performers in the Moroccan league, delivering an impressive return of 13 goals in just 15 appearances.
His clinical finishing and consistency in front of goal have made him one of the most sought-after forwards in the domestic competition, attracting attention beyond Morocco’s borders as clubs begin to prepare for the summer transfer market.
