TP Mazembe, despite having already secured a place in the semi-finals of the CAF Cup before the final day of group matches, experienced a 2-0 defeat to FUS de Rabat in Group C. The coach of TP Mazembe, Patrice Carteron, expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of realism from his team and highlighted defensive fragility.
Carteron stated, “We really lacked realism because the FUS team certainly had fewer chances than us. The goal conceded before half-time hurt us. Afterwards, we tried to come back, but overall, the Moroccan team defended well and caused us problems. In this type of match, I am more attentive to our defensive fragility, which was quite glaring. We conceded a lot of chances, and I think we made some pretty big mistakes…”
Looking ahead to the semi-final round, Carteron revealed that TP Mazembe would undergo training in Ghana to prepare well. Despite the less-than-brilliant performance in the final group match, the coach emphasized the need to learn from the experience and work on a strategy for the upcoming semi-final matches.
