Wydad AC tactician Patrice Carteron has struck a defiant tone, stressing the team will overcome their current struggles despite mounting frustration.

The Moroccan giants’ crisis deepened following a shock 2-1 home defeat to bottom-side Yacoub El Mansour—a result that extended their winless streak to five matches under Carteron and raised fresh concerns about their title ambitions.

Reacting to the disappointing loss, the French tactician admitted the situation is far from ideal but urged calm within the squad.

“It is normal for any team to go through difficult periods, but I am sure that we will get out of this crisis despite the frustration we all feel because we have not yet achieved the desired results,” Carteron said.

His comments reflect a dressing room grappling with inconsistency, as Wydad continue to drop crucial points at a decisive stage of the season. Once considered strong contenders, the Casablanca-based club now find themselves trailing in the title race, with their momentum stalled by a string of poor performances.

Carteron, however, leaned on his experience, emphasizing that such downturns are part of football and can be reversed with the right response.

“I have experienced such a situation before, and we will work to get out of it and improve performance,” he added, signaling belief in both his methods and the squad’s ability to respond.

Despite the growing pressure, the former African champion coach remains unwavering in his objectives.

“I reiterate that my goal is to win the league title despite the recent results,” he concluded.

The defeat leaves Wydad on 31 points in fourth place, slipping further behind the league leaders and intensifying scrutiny on the team’s recent performances. Meanwhile, the victory offered a rare boost to Yacoub El Mansour, who remain near the bottom of the standings but will draw confidence from a landmark result.

For Wydad, attention quickly shifts to their next fixture against Renaissance Zemamra—a match that could prove crucial in determining whether Carteron’s side can finally halt their slide and begin the climb back into contention.

As pressure builds, Carteron’s words now set the tone. The challenge for Wydad is to turn that belief into results on the pitch before their season drifts further out of reach.
