Zamalek face $6.5 million crisis as FIFA sanctions cases rise to 15
Zamalek SC are facing a major financial and administrative crisis after the number of cases against the club at FIFA reportedly climbed to 15, with an estimated $6.5 million required to resolve the outstanding disputes.
The Egyptian giants are under growing pressure as the cases continue to mount, placing a heavy burden on one of Africa’s most decorated clubs.
The matters are understood to involve unpaid dues and contractual disputes, which have resulted in multiple sanctions, including registration bans.
According to the latest list of FIFA registration bans, Zamalek’s name appears repeatedly, highlighting the scale of the legal and financial troubles currently surrounding the Cairo-based side.
The $6.5 million needed to clear the cases represents a significant challenge for the club’s leadership, who must now find urgent solutions to avoid further sporting consequences.
Failure to settle the outstanding obligations could impact future transfer activity and squad rebuilding plans ahead of the new season.
Zamalek, one of Egypt’s most successful clubs, have enjoyed a rich history domestically and on the continent, but the latest developments underline the financial strain that has affected several major teams in recent years.
Supporters will now look to the board for decisive action as the club seeks to restore stability both on and off the pitch.
With preparations for the upcoming campaign already underway, resolving the FIFA cases has become an immediate priority.
The coming weeks are expected to be crucial as Zamalek attempt to navigate one of the most serious off-field challenges in the club’s recent history.
