Swedish outfit Kalmar FF weigh permanent move for Moroccan defender Ashraf Dari
Swedish side Kalmar FF are reportedly considering activating a purchase option to sign Moroccan defender Achraf Dari permanently from Egyptian giants Al Ahly SC, following an encouraging start to his loan spell.
Per reports, Kalmar’s management are seriously evaluating the clause included in Dari’s loan agreement, as the defender continues to establish himself as a key figure in the squad after overcoming earlier fitness struggles.
Dari joined Al Ahly at the beginning of last season from French club Stade Brestois 29, but struggled to secure consistent playing time due to injuries and competition for places.
After falling out of the club’s immediate plans, the 26-year-old was sent on loan to Kalmar FF until the end of the current campaign, with a view to regaining form and match sharpness.
Since arriving in Sweden, the Moroccan international has quickly adapted to the demands of the Allsvenskan, earning regular minutes and rebuilding his confidence on the pitch.
Reports indicate that Dari has already featured in five league matches, completing the full 90 minutes in four of them—an indication of growing trust from the coaching staff.
His performances have helped stabilize Kalmar’s defensive structure, even as the club continues to struggle in the lower half of the table.
Kalmar currently sit 13th in the standings after five rounds, collecting four points and remaining just one point above the relegation zone. Despite their position, the club are said to be encouraged by Dari’s influence at the back.
Their next test comes against league leaders IK Sirius Fotboll, who have already accumulated 13 points in a strong start to the season.
Although Dari is impressing in Sweden, his long-term future remains tied to Cairo, where he is contracted to Al Ahly SC until the summer of 2028.
Since the start of the current season, the defender has made seven appearances for Al Ahly across domestic competitions, including matches in the Cairo Capital Cup and Egypt Cup.
However, injuries have disrupted his continuity, with reports indicating he missed as many as 16 matches this season due to fitness issues.
The initial loan arrangement with Kalmar was not expected to become permanent, but the player’s recent performances have reportedly changed internal discussions at the Swedish club.
Kalmar are now said to be seriously assessing whether to trigger the purchase clause, depending on both financial conditions and the defender’s continued form.
Dari’s ability to settle quickly, regain physical stability, and deliver consistent performances has positioned him as a valuable option for a club fighting to secure top-flight survival.
With the Swedish season still in its early stages and Kalmar battling to climb away from the relegation zone, the coming weeks could prove decisive for both player and club.
For Dari, the loan spell represents a crucial turning point after a difficult spell in Cairo. For Kalmar FF, it may present an opportunity to secure a reliable defensive asset long-term—provided they are willing to make the financial commitment to turn a temporary move into a permanent transfer.
