Michael Olise is the assist leader in Europe

Liverpool have been urged to make an audacious move for Michael Olise, with former Reds winger Jermaine Pennant insisting the club should be prepared to offer “any amount plus Cody Gakpo” to secure the Bayern Munich star as a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah.

The suggestion comes amid growing speculation over Liverpool’s attacking rebuild, with the Premier League giants preparing for life after Mohamed Salah, who is expected to depart at the end of the season.

Olise, meanwhile, has emerged as one of Europe’s most productive forwards, delivering a standout campaign for Bayern Munich under manager Vincent Kompany.

The French winger of Nigerian and Algerian descents has been in sensational form, registering 20 goals and 29 assists in 47 appearances across all competitions.

His blend of creativity and end product was on full display in midweek, when he scored and completed seven successful dribbles in Bayern’s dramatic 5-4 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.

Olise’s rise has been rapid since his £60 million move from Crystal Palace two years ago, with his influence in Germany growing into that of a genuine elite attacking force.

His technical sharpness and ability to decide matches have made him one of the most closely watched players in European football.

Pennant did not hold back in his assessment, using social media to push Liverpool towards an aggressive transfer approach.

“Liverpool go out and get Olise right now, at all costs. There is your replacement for Mo Salah. AT ALL COSTS. Any amount plus (Cody) Gakpo,” he wrote.

However, any potential pursuit faces significant resistance from Munich. Olise remains under contract until 2029, and Bayern’s leadership has made their stance unmistakably clear.

Chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge recently reinforced the club’s position, stating: “This unwritten rule still applies today. For a player like Michael Olise, there’s no price tag that would make us flinch.”
