Nigeria midfielder Alhassan Yusuf claims he is fit and ready for the Super Eagles’ next match, having recovered from an injury he sustained at the beginning of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Nigeria will face Angola in the quarter finals in the Africa Cup of Nations on Friday, February 2, 2024, in Abidjan, and Yusuf has declared himself fit for the fixture.
Yusuf had a thigh injury in the Super Eagles’ first group match of the tournament when they drew 1-1 with Equatorial Guinea, sidelining him in the rest of the two group games.
Yusuf made it on the bench in the Round of 16 win over Cameroon last Saturday. The Super Eagles claimed a 2-0 victory over the Indomitable Lions.
Speaking to the press after training on Monday, Yusuf declared, “I’m in good shape now, no discomfort or injury again.” He said
The Royal Antwerp midfielder went further, saying, “I’m ready to play again, but the coach will decide when he wants to play me. The team is doing well, and that is the most important thing.”
The Super Eagles can’t leave their chances as they square it off with Angola on Friday at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny in the first quarter finals fixture.
Nigeria are chasing their fourth AFCON title, and a win against Angola will spur them on in their pursuit. Their last continental triumph was in 2013 in South Africa.
