Manuel Akanji set for permanent Inter Milan move

Manuel Akanji is on the verge of completing a permanent transfer to Inter Milan from Manchester City in a deal worth around 15 million euros, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Swiss defender has spent this season on loan at Inter and impressed enough for the Serie A side to trigger a full-time move. City are expected to receive the agreed fee once the paperwork is finalised, with both clubs aiming to complete the agreement in May for the 30-year-old centre-back.

On 1 September 2025, Akanji joined Inter Milan on a season-long loan from Manchester City for a fee of 1 million euros. He quickly integrated into Simone Inzaghi’s backline, establishing himself as the preferred right-sided centre-back in the coach’s three-man defence. By early October 2025, he had already become the most used defender in the squad, starting all eight Serie A matches to that point and logging more than 700 minutes on the pitch.

Akanji originally signed for Manchester City in the summer of 2022 and played a major role in their historic treble-winning campaign. His versatility and consistency made him a valuable piece of Pep Guardiola’s squad, but his successful spell in Italy has now opened the door to a long-term stay at Inter.
