Borussia Dortmund eye move for Karim Coulibaly

Borussia Dortmund are reportedly preparing a summer move for Werder Bremen’s highly rated young centre-back Karim Coulibaly, with the defender valued at around €40 million.

The 18-year-old has enjoyed a breakout Bundesliga campaign, impressing with his calmness on the ball and maturity beyond his years, and even earning his Germany U21 debut last month. His rapid rise has not gone unnoticed across Europe, with several top clubs monitoring his progress, but Dortmund are said to be pushing hardest to bring him to Signal Iduna Park.

Seen as one of the most exciting defensive prospects in the league, Coulibaly is admired for his technical quality, defensive awareness, physical strength and outstanding recovery pace, qualities that make him an ideal fit for an aggressive, front-foot style.

Werder Bremen are understood to rate him extremely highly and are in a strong position as interest grows, which helps explain the sizeable price tag being mentioned. For Dortmund, securing Coulibaly would not only strengthen their back line for next season but also represent a long-term investment in a player who could develop into a cornerstone of their defence and a future star for club and country.
