Since Wednesday, Burkina Faso has become another African country facing the issue of athletes disappearing during the 7th Francophonie Games held from September 7 to 15 in Nice, France. According to the Apanews Agency, three Burkinabé athletes failed to report for their departure at the airport.
Initially, the Burkinabè delegation showed no signs of defection, but ultimately, the phenomenon affected them, as revealed by a source close to the Burkina Faso delegation. The athletes who did not respond to the call include the substitute goalkeeper of the junior Etalons football team, Lassané Nikièma, an athlete named Oumar Ben Bandé, and a third individual whose identity has not been disclosed.
This occurrence adds to a growing list of cases involving African athletes and artists, including individuals from Congo, Djibouti, and Ivory Coast, who had already left the event before its conclusion.
