Yacine Titraoui sidelined with injury for Charleroi

Algerian international Yacine Titraoui will miss Royal Charleroi Sporting Club’s upcoming match against Standard Liège after failing to recover in time from a recent injury.

The 22-year-old midfielder has been ruled out of Saturday’s fixture, which forms part of the Jupiler Pro League European playoffs, following a thigh problem sustained in last week’s win over Royal Antwerp.

His absence represents a significant setback for Royal Charleroi Sporting Club at a crucial stage of the campaign.

Titraoui’s injury has kept him sidelined since that match, and the club’s interim coach Mario Kohnen confirmed that the player will not be available for selection this weekend.

“We can’t count on him. Saturday’s match comes a little too soon. It’s a shame, but we have to make do,” Kohnen said.

The midfielder’s absence is a blow for Charleroi, particularly after his recent performances helped the team regain momentum.

The club had ended a ten-match winless run in their previous outing, with Titraoui playing a key role in that turnaround.

His influence in midfield has been evident throughout the season, and his unavailability leaves Charleroi without one of their main creative outlets ahead of an important fixture in their push for European qualification.

There is also uncertainty surrounding his availability for the following match against KRC Genk on Tuesday. While the club remains hopeful that his absence will not extend beyond the immediate fixtures, no definitive timeline has been confirmed.

Despite the injury setback, Titraoui remains focused on the closing stages of the season. With seven matches left to play, he is aiming to maintain his form and continue pushing for a place in Algeria’s national team ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Having already been included in a recent training camp with the Fennecs, the midfielder has taken steps to strengthen his position within the squad.

His performances at club level will be closely watched as he looks to return from injury and contribute once again.
