Vinicius Jr's contract standoff raises risk of free Real Madrid exit in 2027

Vinicius Jr’s future at Real Madrid is becoming increasingly uncertain, with reports claiming there is now a real possibility he could walk away on a free transfer in the summer of 2027.

Journalist Jorge Picon reports that the Brazilian has had a renewal proposal on the table for some time but has not agreed to the terms.

“He has had a renewal offer on the table for some time. The problem: his entourage is asking for more,” Picon explains, noting that the demands relate either to a higher salary or an unprecedented renewal bonus that the club are unwilling to pay. “From what I’m told, Real Madrid has no plans to budge even a cent on that contract, but they still want Vinicius to accept it and stay.”

According to Picon, both sides insist they want to continue together, yet the winger is edging closer to being able to negotiate freely from January 2027.

“My prediction based on what I know: this, for better or worse, is going to drag on until after the World Cup,” he adds. Vinicius’ fluctuating form this season, with Kylian Mbappe taking on most of the scoring burden, only adds another layer to an already delicate situation.
