Marouane Chamakh has stated that he is not currently considering participating in the African Cup of Nations (CAN). The Moroccan international shared this information during an interview with RMC radio in France, where he emphasized that his main focus at the moment is on his club and the prospect of securing more playing time. The Arsenal striker, who has been lacking opportunities on the field, is not prominently featured in Rachid Taoussi’s plans for the national team. Despite this, Chamakh’s experience could potentially benefit the Atlas Lions in the CAN tournament, where Morocco is placed in Group A alongside South Africa, Cape Verde, and Angola.
Chamakh also dismissed any rumors of an imminent departure and asserted that his priority lies in England. However, if he were to return to France, it would only be for Bordeaux. This statement is likely to please the Girondins, as Chamakh expressed a strong connection to the club where he achieved success, winning the French championship under the management of Laurent Blanc in 2009.
