Ghana’s Black Maidens delivered an assured performance to kick off their U17 Women’s World Cup qualifying campaign, securing a convincing 2-0 win over Togo in the first leg of their tie.

The match, played on Saturday, April 12 at the Stade de Kégué, saw the Ghanaian side combine composure and attacking efficiency to take control of proceedings from early on.

Priscilla Mensah opened the scoring in the 16th minute, calmly finishing a well-worked move to hand Ghana the lead. She returned in the second half to seal the victory, striking again in the 64th minute after a swift attacking build-up that exposed the Togolese defence.

Her impressive brace proved decisive, giving the Black Maidens a valuable away advantage and putting them in a strong position ahead of the return leg.

With momentum firmly on their side, Ghana will now prepare for the second leg at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday, April 18, where they will aim to complete the job and secure progression in the qualifiers.
