Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Tsiki Ntsabeleng believes the battle for the South African Premier Division crown will go down to the wire—but remains confident his side will emerge as champions.

Ntsabeleng was instrumental in Sundowns’ emphatic 4-1 victory over Chippa United FC, a result that propelled them back to the top of the table, now holding a two-point advantage over second-placed Orlando Pirates FC.

Operating with composure and creativity in central midfield, Ntsabeleng dictated play with precise passing and intelligent movement. His standout moment came with a perfectly weighted delivery that was met by Iqraam Rayners, who headed home Sundowns’ second goal of the night. His all-round performance earned him the Man of the Match award.

Reflecting on the victory, Ntsabeleng acknowledged both the intensity of the title race and the importance of maintaining consistency as the season reaches its decisive phase.

“But, I believe we gonna come out on top if we keep playing the way we are,” he said after the game.

The midfielder also expressed his gratitude for the recognition, dedicating his award to faith and the opportunity to showcase his abilities at one of Africa’s most dominant clubs.

“It means a lot to get this award. First of all, I would like to thank the Almighty for just giving me the opportunity to express the talent he’s given me,” he explained.

Ntsabeleng highlighted the pressure that comes with representing Sundowns, a club known for its high standards and winning mentality. However, he insisted that he is embracing the challenge and continuing to grow within the system.

“We all know playing for Mamelodi Sundowns, it comes with pressure, and when you get a chance you have to take it,” he said. “I think I’m doing my best at that.”

The midfielder admitted that his early struggles after joining the squad required patience, but credited his improvement to hard work and tactical understanding developed on the training ground.

“I think I started a bit slow, but as I got used to the team everything went well,” he noted.

Ntsabeleng also pointed to the team’s collective efforts and chemistry as key factors behind their success, particularly their ability to execute coordinated attacking movements.

“I think it’s the things we work on in training, just shooting outside the box, creating space for each other, complimentary runs—as you can see it’s all coming together now,” he said.

With the title race intensifying, Ntsabeleng emphasized the importance of fan support, acknowledging the role of Sundowns’ passionate supporters in pushing the team forward.

“It means a lot for the fans to come out in numbers. We need them,” he added. “It’s a title race and it’s a difficult one this year because all the teams are going head to head.”

As the season progresses, Sundowns will rely heavily on performances like Ntsabeleng’s to maintain their momentum, with the midfielder emerging as a key figure in their quest for yet another league triumph.
