Joe Hart says Mohamed Salah looks broken

Former England goalkeeper Joe Hart believes Mohamed Salah is going through one of the toughest spells of his Liverpool career after the Egyptian’s struggles in the 4-0 FA Cup defeat to Manchester City.

Salah missed a second-half penalty and was substituted shortly after, deepening concern over his form and confidence.

City ran riot at the Etihad, with Erling Haaland hitting a hat-trick and Antoine Semenyo adding another, while Salah’s big chance from the spot in the 64th minute went begging before he was replaced by Federico Chiesa on 77 minutes.

Speaking on TNT Sports, Hart did not hide how different Salah looked compared to the ruthless winger fans are used to. “We are used to seeing Mohamed Salah as a confident player, but he suffered today and looked low on confidence,” he said. He added that Salah even appeared emotionally drained: “We saw him come into half-time looking broken.”

Hart has praised Salah several times this season, but on this occasion he focused on how sharply the Liverpool star’s level has dipped in recent weeks, both mentally and physically.
