Botola Pro 1: Fadlu Davids explains why Raja AC missed out on key transfer targets
Head coach Fadlu Davids has revealed why Raja Casablanca were unable to secure top talents during the most recent winter transfer window, pointing to financial constraints and market realities.
In an interview with Soccer Laduma, the South African tactician explained that the club had identified several players in the South African league but were ultimately priced out of potential deals due to excessive transfer demands.
Davids noted that Raja engaged in discussions with a number of targets, but the high valuations placed on players, coupled with what he described as inflated financial expectations from their clubs, made negotiations difficult to complete.
He further highlighted the timing of the transfer window as another major obstacle, with many clubs unwilling to part ways with key players while still competing for domestic league titles and continental qualification spots, including the CAF Champions League.
According to the Raja boss, these factors combined to limit the club’s ability to strengthen the squad midway through the season.
However, Davids remains optimistic about future recruitment, revealing that the club’s management plans to revisit the market at the end of the campaign, with a renewed focus on bringing in players from South Africa as well as other international leagues.
