Yakubu shares emotional Everton memories
Yakubu has spoken warmly about his time at Everton, saying he “fell in love from day one” with the club and its supporters during his spell on Merseyside.
The former Nigeria striker recently returned to Goodison Park for Everton’s 3–0 win over Chelsea and was visibly moved as fans brought back the famous chant, “Feed the Yak and he will score!”.
Warm welcome from supporters
“The welcome from the fans meant so much to me,” Yakubu told the club’s official channel, adding that seeing how much he is still appreciated is something he will always remember. He described Everton as “a special place” and made clear that his bond with the club has never faded over the years.
Goals, legacy and lasting bond
Yakubu joined Everton from Middlesbrough in 2007 under David Moyes and went on to score 33 goals in 107 appearances, including 15 Premier League strikes in a standout first season. Reflecting on his career, he said he believes he played his best football at Everton and still follows the team closely, cherishing the connection with what he calls the People’s Club.
