There is a dispute involving the eligibility of the Nigerien player Mahamane Cissé in the context of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers. However, Niger has now accused Congo of attempting to bribe Mahamane Cissé to state that he is not a Nigerien. The president of FENIFOOT (Nigerian Football Federation), Colonel Djibrilla Hima Hamidou, stated that Congo coach Kamel Djabour allegedly used his knowledge of Malian football to offer Cissé 50 million CFA francs to claim his qualification was not valid. The Congo coach denies the allegations. If the accusations are confirmed, FIFA could impose severe sanctions against the Congo Football Federation.
