In the absence of the injured Souleymane Diawara, Lucas Mendès is eager to maintain his starting place for Olympique de Marseille. Although acknowledging Diawara’s strong performances, the Brazilian is determined to continue working hard to earn his place in the starting lineup.
“He had some very good matches! He has recovered from his knee injury, he is 100%. He worked well in training. You wouldn’t say he’s 34 years old… (laughs) For the moment, he’s the starter in the middle, but I continue to work to earn my place,” stated Lucas Mendès in an interview with La Provence.
