Morocco winger Chemsdine Talbi has hailed his performance for Sunderland FC in Sunday’s dramatic 2-1 comeback win over Newcastle United as the highlight of his career.

The 20-year-old found the net as the Black Cats overturned a deficit to shock their fierce rivals at St James’ Park in the Tyne-Wear Derby.

Dutch forward Brian Brobbey also scored for Sunderland, while England international Anthony Gordon had earlier given Eddie Howe’s side the lead.

Reflecting on the game via Sunderland’s official website, Talbi described the match as one of the best he has ever played.

“I think it was one of the best matches I’ve seen in my life and played in,” he said.

“I have no words about it. We work on set-pieces in training. I was there to get the second ball. I was there at the right moment, and I just tapped it into the net.

“It’s a big moment to score in a big game, and I’m really happy. I’m just so happy to be a part of this team and play these types of games,” he added.

The victory lifted Sunderland into 11th place, one point above 12th-placed Newcastle United, who introduced Congolese forward Yoane Wissa late in the match to face off against compatriot Noah Sadiki.

Sunderland now turn their attention to a home clash with Tottenham Hotspur after the international break.
