French basketball player of Senegalese origin, Yakhouba Diawara, has officially joined BCM Gravelines-Dunkerque, confirming the news through his Twitter account on Friday. He posted, “New player BCM.”
The 30-year-old winger, who was without a club, underwent tests on September 10 in Miami and Orlando Magic. Diawara previously spent four seasons in the NBA, playing for Denver and Miami between 2006 and 2010. Notably, he won a gold medal at the 2000 European Junior Championship with the French junior team in Zadar, Croatia. Since 2002, the Franco-Senegalese player has earned 44 caps with the French national team.
