Yan Diomande ended RB Leipzig’s home match against Hoffenheim with a worrying shoulder issue after bravely trying to play through the pain.

The 19-year-old appeared to pick up the problem in his left shoulder during the first half and repeatedly went to ground, at times screaming in obvious discomfort.

Despite that, Diomande was determined to continue and stayed on the pitch into the second half, even seeing a goal ruled out for offside after a VAR intervention shortly before the break. His evening eventually came to an early end in the 66th minute when he was replaced by Antonio Nusa, as the coaching staff opted not to take further risks.

As he left the field, the Ivorian let his arm hang visibly and later sat on the bench with a pained expression while the affected area was treated with ice.

How serious the injury is will only become clear in the coming days, with Leipzig set to monitor his recovery closely before deciding on his availability for the next matches.
