Thiago Pitarch reflects on dream rise to Real Madrid starting XI
Thiago Pitarch has opened up on what it means to have become a regular starter for Real Madrid at just 18, admitting the scale of it all still feels surreal.
“I try not to think about it too much because it’s crazy. I’m living it, as I said, very calmly, enjoying every minute and feeling very happy to be at the best club in the world,” the young midfielder said, stressing how grounded he is trying to remain.
On the trust shown in him by head coach Alvaro Arbeloa, Pitarch explained: “We’re experiencing it very naturally, both my family and I. I’m here to enjoy the minutes the coach gives me and to earn more time on the pitch.”
He also praised his teammates for helping him settle. “They encourage me a lot to play the way I know and to do it just as I’ve been doing in training and in matches. I’ll keep it up,” he added.
Reflecting on the 2-1 Champions League win over Manchester City that secured Real Madrid’s place in the next round, Pitarch said: “We came to win, not to defend or anything, and it worked out well. We’re happy to advance to the next round.”
