Aston Villa target German-Cameroonian defender Yann Bisseck in summer transfer push

Yann Aurel Bisseck has set his sights on forcing his way back into the Germany squad in time for the 2026 World Cup after establishing himself as a reliable presence at Inter Milan.

The defender feels his versatility and growth in Italy give him a real advantage in the battle for places.

“The good thing for me is that I play several positions at Inter. I have learned a lot over the past year and a half – both as a person and tactically,” Bisseck told Kicker, reflecting on his development since moving abroad.

He made his senior Germany debut in March 2025 against Italy, but an untimely injury ruled him out of the Champions League final and cost him a spot in the Nations League squad.

Crucially, Bisseck says communication with national team coach Julian Nagelsmann never stopped during his recovery. “It also makes me happy when Julian Nagelsmann watches one or two of our games and doesn’t lose sight of me,” he noted, keeping the finer points of their talks “best kept confidential.” With friendlies against Switzerland and Ghana approaching, Bisseck hopes a strong impression will secure his return to the DFB setup.
