CAF Champions League: Pyramids FC coach Krunoslav Jurčić braces for tough FAR Rabat quarterfinal test
Head coach Krunoslav Jurčić has admitted that Pyramids FC faces a difficult challenge against Moroccan giants AS FAR, stressing that his side is preparing for a demanding encounter against one of the tournament’s strongest teams.
Speaking during a press conference held at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, the Croatian tactician acknowledged the quality and stability within the FAR Rabat squad.
Jurčić praised the Moroccan side for maintaining much of its core from last season, explaining that this continuity has helped the team develop strong chemistry and tactical understanding on the pitch.
“FAR Rabat have a group of technically gifted players,” Jurčić said. “Their squad has not changed much compared to last season, which gives them great cohesion and makes them a very dangerous opponent.”
The Pyramids FC boss noted that facing such an organized team away from home will require his players to remain focused and disciplined throughout the match.
Despite recognizing the challenge ahead, Jurčić expressed confidence in his own squad. He admitted that the Egyptian club had parted ways with several experienced players during the offseason, but insisted that the club’s management acted swiftly to rebuild the team.
According to the Croatian coach, the departures were balanced by the arrival of young and highly motivated players eager to prove themselves on the continental stage.
“We have lost some experienced players,” he said. “But the club has brought in young players who are hungry, ambitious and determined to continue our journey in this competition.”
Jurčić also reflected on the pressures that come with success in African club competitions. He explained that defending a title can often prove more difficult than winning it for the first time, as opponents approach the champions with added determination and tactical preparation.
“In many cases, winning a title is easier than defending it,” he remarked. “Every team wants to beat the champions, so the challenge becomes even greater.”
Nevertheless, the coach stressed that his team is approaching the game with a clear mindset — to deliver its best performance while avoiding unnecessary pressure.
He indicated that the players are fully aware of the importance of the match but are determined to focus on their tactical plan rather than external expectations from supporters or media.
As the clash approaches, Jurčić believes that discipline, concentration, and the right mentality will be key if Pyramids FC hopes to overcome the formidable Moroccan side and keep its continental ambitions alive.
The encounter promises to be one of the standout fixtures of the round, with both clubs aiming to assert their dominance and take a decisive step forward in the competition.
