Following the events surrounding Tunisia and Cape Verde, FIFA withdrew the initially released ranking for September. After FIFA sanctioned Cape Verde for fraudulent use of a player, a new ranking was released. The top three positions remained the same, with Ivory Coast, Ghana, and Algeria leading. Nigeria moved up to the 4th position, pushing Mali to the 5th spot. Cape Verde dropped to the 6th position on the continent. Tunisia, now seeded for the play-offs, climbed to the 7th position, overtaking Burkina Faso and Egypt. The Top 10 is completed by Cameroon.
