Liverpool Arne Slot defends Mohamed Salah after Champions League setback against Galatasaray
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has come to the defense of Egypt star Mohamed Salah following the Reds’ underwhelming performance in their Champions League clash against Galatasaray.
Despite Salah’s perceived lack of impact, Slot stressed the experienced attacker contributed in key moments and created meaningful opportunities.
Liverpool fell short in their encounter with the Turkish side last night, with Salah unable to influence the outcome decisively.
“I don’t think they were very involved, but they played a prominent role and created promising opportunities on many occasions, including real chances to score,” Slot told RousingTheKop. He added, “I felt in the first half that we missed an opportunity.”
Despite his record-breaking achievements, Salah has struggled to maintain peak form. Slot acknowledged these challenges but emphasized the players’ quality and previous contributions in European competitions.
“I think they’ve shown glimpses of good things in away games in Europe, and you can’t expect them to get 15 chances in one match. They’re usually exceptional and will create more opportunities than they did yesterday,” Slot concluded.
While Liverpool supporters may have expected a stronger performance from Salah, Slot’s comments underscore the manager’s confidence in his abilities and the patience required to see them rediscover their top form.
Liverpool now look ahead to their Premier League clash against Tottenham at Anfield, seeking to regain momentum in domestic competition while continuing their European campaign.
