The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) faced a series of disappearances of its athletes during the 7th Games of La Francophonie. Sprinter Julie Kasongo, who was disqualified for the 100m event due to inappropriate footwear, has been reported missing since September 10. If confirmed, this brings the total number of Congolese athletes missing during the Francophonie Games in Nice (France) to twelve. Previously, seven basketball players, three cyclists, and a footballer had already disappeared, causing distress among the Congolese population. The disappearances have raised concerns about the preparedness and focus of Congolese athletes in international competitions.
