Barcelona plot €30m move for Ivorian defender Evan Ndicka amid defensive crisis

Barcelona are reportedly preparing to make a move in the transfer market as they seek to strengthen their defensive line ahead of next season.

The Spanish football powerhouse are planning to submit an official offer to AS Roma for Ivorian centre-back Evan Ndicka, as the summer transfer window approaches.

Barcelona’s interest in the 26-year-old defender comes as the club looks to address persistent problems at the heart of their defence. The Spanish side have struggled for consistency this season, with defensive lapses costing them valuable points in key matches.

Part of the concern stems from the fluctuating form of Ronald Araújo, while ongoing injury issues affecting Jules Koundé have further weakened the backline and disrupted the team’s defensive stability.

As a result, Barcelona’s sporting department is exploring options to reinforce the squad, and Ndicka has emerged as a prime target due to his experience, physical presence, and consistent performances in Serie A.

The Blaugrana are reportedly ready to table an offer of around €30 million for the Ivory Coast international during the upcoming summer transfer window. Ndicka’s current contract with Roma runs until 2028, and his market valuation is estimated at around the same figure.

Despite being settled in Rome, the defender is believed to be open to a potential move to Spain should negotiations between the clubs progress.

Since joining Roma, Ndicka has established himself as a key figure in the team’s defence, earning praise for his composure on the ball, strong aerial ability, and tactical awareness.

For Barcelona, securing his signature could provide much-needed stability at the back as the club aims to rebuild a more reliable defensive unit capable of competing for major honours both domestically and in Europe.

With the summer transfer window approaching, all eyes will be on whether Barcelona formalize their interest and convince Roma to part ways with one of their defensive pillars.
