Sell Mohamed Salah and sign Olise or Barcola – Jermaine Pennant tells Liverpool hierarchy
Former Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant has suggested that the club should consider selling Mohamed Salah.
Salah’s future at Anfield has been the subject of speculation following a difficult 2025/26 season, during which he scored just nine goals in 31 appearances.
The Egyptian also experienced a public clash with coach Arne Slot in December, though relations reportedly improved after his return from the Africa Cup of Nations.
Speaking on the Wildcards podcast, Pennant said the time might be right for Liverpool to cash in on Salah and reinvest in new talent, mentioning Michael Olise and Bradley Barcola as potential replacements.
“Who would I be getting rid of? If Saudi came in say there’s 75 million, 100 million, we want Salah,” he said.
“You know I would accept that fee, and then with that money, I would probably maybe look to bring in Olise or Barcola,” he added.
Salah has shown glimpses of form recently, scoring in consecutive games against Wolverhampton Wanderers this week, much to Slot’s satisfaction.
The forward will aim to build on this mini-revival when Liverpool face Galatasaray in the Champions League.
