Egyptian teenager Hamza Abdelkarim celebrates first goal in Barcelona debut
Egyptian striker Hamza Abdelkarim marked an impressive start to his Barcelona career, scoring on his debut for Barcelona Athletic in a 2-2 draw against Huesca on Sunday evening. The match took place in the Catalan club’s reserve team competition.
Abdelkarim had joined Barcelona on loan from Al Ahly SC during the winter transfer window, but his first appearance was delayed until March. Despite having only recently arrived in Barcelona, coach Paul Planas surprised many by starting him as the team’s centre forward.
The Egyptian striker made an immediate impact. Early in the second half, around the 50th minute, he received the ball roughly 30 meters from goal, turned quickly, and unleashed a powerful shot that the Huesca goalkeeper managed to parry with difficulty. A few minutes later, Abdelkarim won a penalty for Barcelona after being fouled inside the box. Although his teammate Adrian Guerrero attempted a Panenka-style penalty, it was unsuccessful, denying the team an early lead.
Abdelkarim’s influence continued, and in the 73rd minute, he capitalised on a left-sided cross. Using his physicality and timing, he outmuscled defenders and powered a precise header into the net, scoring Barcelona’s second goal of the match. This strike marked his first goal for the Blaugrana in his very first official appearance.
After the game, Abdelkarim shared his excitement on Instagram, writing: “Proud to have played my first match and scored my first goal with this wonderful team. Grateful for this moment and eager for more… Hala Barca.”
His debut goal signals a promising start for the Egyptian forward, hinting at a bright future with Barcelona Athletic.
