Alvaro Arbeloa admits responsibility for Brahim Diaz lack of minutes

Alvaro Arbeloa has openly accepted that Brahim Diaz is not playing as much as he merits at Real Madrid and put the blame squarely on himself.

The head coach praised the Moroccan attacker’s attitude and quality, stressing that his limited game time is not a reflection of his effort in training.

“Nothing. He’s playing less than he deserves, and I’m responsible for that, because he trains very well and we all know his abilities. I’m sure I can get much more out of him than I’m currently doing. It’s my responsibility. I’ll make the effort to do so,” Arbeloa admitted.

Despite some eye-catching cameos against Rayo Vallecano and Valencia last month, Diaz has struggled to move beyond a fringe role in Madrid’s star-studded squad.

The 26-year-old has started just four of his 26 appearances this season, a tally many supporters feel does not match his impact when he does feature.

With pressure growing on Arbeloa and fans calling for more minutes for Diaz, the coach’s promise to “get much more out of him” will be closely watched in the coming weeks.
